This day started off with breakfast in the Pearl restaurant once again,
followed by a walk through the city, where we saw the St. Paul's Cathedral
and the reconstruction of the Shakespear Theater. The theater was
rebuilt using the original plans of the theater prior to it being burned
down (twice), the final time in the London fire of 1666. After the
walk we went for a ride on the London Eye, which I would call a giant ferris
wheel, but since it's enclosed it's officially called an escalation wheel.
From the top of the London Eye you can see pretty much all of London.
Once we finished on the London Eye we went for a boat tour down the Thames River to the Tower Of London. You can see the London Tower bridge from there, but we didn't actually go to the bridge. The tower of London is where the keep the royal jewels. Unfortunately, they don't allow photos in the jewel building. After the Tower of London we were free to explore on our own. And we went over to the British Museam, which has an amazing collection of artifacts. The very first of which that I saw was the Rosetta Stone. Amber was most impressed with the 2 statues from the Mausoleum, one of the Ancient 7 Wonders of the World. Once we left the museum we went over to the China town district and had some fine Chinese food. I've never had hotter Hot & Sour soup than I had there. |
