The fourth day started with an early morning walk around the legal
district near our hotel. Where we saw lots of old historical buildings.
Including The Old Curiousity Shop made famous by Charles Dickens.
It was one of the few buildings spared in the 1666 fire that nearly destroyed
London. Then we went on a cruise down the canals of London.
(Did you know they had canals, I didn't.) Where we saw the backsides
of some really nice houses on royal property as well as the backside of
the London Zoo. We ended out boat tour in Camden, where we spent
some time shopping for british swag. Then we headed over to the Waterloo
Station to catch the Eurostar train through the Chunnel over to Paris.
Once in Paris the rest of the night was free, and we explored the Avenue Des Champs leading up to the Arc de Triomphe. We also saw the Disney store along the way. The Disney store in Paris is just amazing, it's 2 stories and has a huge Disney themed chandaleir. On the way back we decided to stop and have a burger at a french burger joint. It was half a block away from the McDonalds, but we decided we'd rather have a "French burger" than a "McDonalds burger". The was the only time in all of my wanderings throughout Paris that there was truly a language barrier. It took a lot of effort to order my food, and they didn't even have ketchup for the fries, but they offered me mayonaise instead. |
