Amber's Journal

Today I had the weirdest feeling of diva vu... like I've dived here before... once again the boat trip out, but this time I know half the passengers! This catamaran had a sail, so it didn't go quite as fast, and had a gentler sway to the motion. Of all our seafaring days, I felt best on this one, but when I walked on land again, I felt that "I'm a pirate!" sway for the rest of the day.

We hit Low island and took the island with minor losses... er, wrong journal. Being this was Disney, everybody suited up in encounter suits. After our encounter with the sharp pointy leg chewing powers of the Reef, I was just fine with slipping into one for the day. Plus... they ARE kind of slimming.

Visibility for this event just wasn't what it was for deep water-too many fins in the water near us I guess. One of the real highlights of the day was the sea turtles! These guys weren't a bit afraid of humans, so they came right up to say "DUUUUUUUUUUUUDE!" to us. One turtle even swam between my legs just like the Wrasse did. Critters around here seem to like doing that if you're just letting yourself hang peacefully in the water. So hold still for turtles and wrasses, splash for sharks I guess!

After diving we toured the island, visited the lighthouse station on the island... and found the ocean covering the reef we'd just swum over had gotten up and left! We got to walk over the same area we'd just swum over. This area had mostly soft corals who can survive being out of the water. There were many little tidepools with fascinating weird critters and corals to look at. We even found a little anemone with a clownfish who played peekaboo with us! Pity I couldn't find Dory this trip!
