Amber's Journal

Day 3:

Today we really traveled back in time as we visited Alsfeld, a medieval town.  This town really is like an outdoor museum as it has an amazing amount of medieval buildings in the center of town.  Beyond the remnant of the city wall it’s the 21st century, but inside….the Grimm brothers still search for fairytales, and Little Red Riding hood skips one step ahead of the wolf!
Heather had told me about the joys of spaghetti ice cream—yum! She was right!  This stuff is freaky to see—your mind says ‘Get ready for tomato sauce and cheese’ but your tongue says “Hey!  Vanilla and strawberry!” It’s a strange dessert!  I could have happily spent the whole trip in Alsfeld exploring the town, but soon we were off to Castle Waldeck to be welcomed by the resident knight, and even a buffet of drinks and sandwiches. Ahh the joys of being met by staff bearing refreshments!  I could get used to being treated like visiting nobility…
