Vacation 2012 (Part 3)

Winter Wonderland - Wyoming

Our third vacation of 2012 was a frozen trip to Wyoming called Winter Wonderland.  It was C-O-L-D-!  I have never been so cold in my life.  It was a fun trip, I'm glad I went, but this California boy is going to be spending winters in warmer climates from now on.  Someday maybe I'll forget how cold it was, and brave something like this again...

All of the daily journals are arranged that the top half are David's pictures and the bottom half are Amber's pictures, followed by a daily description written by Amber at the bottom.  Descriptions on this page are written by David.

Day 1: Wyoming Welcome

Day 1: Wyoming Welcome

The first day of our trip was just arriving in Jackson and having a welcome dinner to get to know some of our fellow adventurers.  And be pleasently surprised that one of our adventure guides was Tiffany, who was one of our guides for our 2007 Southwest Splendors tour.  We also met Geraldine to add to our ever expanding collection of happy guide memories.

Day 2: Trail Blazers

Day 2: Trail Blazers

The second day of our trip was my favorite day.  We went Dog Sledding.  It was totally cool!  Actually, it was kind of frozen.  But this was the day that my fun was overriding my freezing.  My fingers were aching, but it was awesome driving a dog sled.  We sledded up to a natural hot spring, where we actually stripped down to our swim clothes and went swimming while it was snowing.  Then had lunch and returned back to civilization.

Day 3: Western Majesty

Day 3: Western Majesty

Our third day sees us off to Yellowstone.  We made a stop by a ranger station to switch from riding a bus and get onto a bombardier, a sort of half track with tracks on the back and skis on the front.  We stopped by to see west thumb geyser basin, and arrived at the Yellowstone Snow Lodge in the evening.

Day 4: Yellowstone Journey

Day 4: Yellowstone Journey

Our fourth day, Christmas Day, was spent touring all around Yellowstone.  We went and saw some paint pots, we saw lots of Bison, and some birds that didn't seem to mind the cold.  Then in the evening we had a little christmas party where we played a bizzare twist on the white elephant gift, but it was a hoot.

Day 5: Happy Trails

Day 5: Happy Trails

Our fifth day was our final day with the group, we ended up staying an extra night in Jackson just for convenience, but we had to say farewell to all the rest.  Although in reality, jackson is really small, and we kept running into them.  We travelled from Yellowstone back to Jackson, stopping to see some Moose along the way.

This link doesn't represent any particular day, these are all photos snapped by our adventure guides.  All in all they gave us over 700 pictures of our group, we've picked out some of our favorites of us, and included them here.
