Day 7 - Pearling at Mallorca!

Today we arrived to tour the lovely island of Mallorca! We began the day with a short bus ride around Palma De Mallorca, the largest town on the island and a stroll through a bit of the Royal Palace of La Almudaina and its gardens. We walked around Palma De Mallorca for a while shopping, looking at the gorgeous cathedral, and buying a set of Mallorcan pearls-these are artificial pearls the island is famed for.

After shopping, we hopped on a darling antique train for a nice little ride through Mediterranean scenery that barely showed the touch of the twenty-first century nibbling all the way on local pastries and fresh cool orange juice. On the way back the men of the trip were presented with little clay whistles that were replicas of an ancient whistle made on the island…and the women got a small set of Mallorcan pearls! Whoot! These turned out to be an amazing match for a strand of family pearls I've been trying to find earrings for-how perfect could a day be?
