Vacation 2009 - Quest For The West
Another year, another Adventure by Disney. This time we went West.
West to Wyoming, which of course is East of us. Once again
we had 2 terrific adventure guides, and made a bunch of new friends
along the way.
Day 1 - Wyoming Welcome
The first day of our adventure. Arriving at the smallest airport I've ever been in. Meeting our guides and cohorts. Checking into the Wort Hotel. And having a welcome dinner. It was interesting staying in a hotel that actually still uses keys.
Day 2 - Western Majesty
Started off the day with a huge western breakfast. Explored town a bit, and then it was off to Jackson Hole Playhouse for a western lunch show. Then we went down to Snake River to brave the rapids. Then we came back and watched an old fashioned shoot out.
Day 3 - Yellowstone Journey
Leaving the fabulous Wort Hotel, or last stay with air conditioning and television. Things become "rustic" now. On our way to Yellowstone we make a stop by the Grand Tetons, and take a hike up the hills over Jenny Lake. Then it's off to Old Faithful Snow Lodge for dinner, and watching Old Faithful go off for the first time.
Day 4 - Trail Blazer
Another hearty western style breakfast, followed by a nature hike around Old Faithful and surrounding springs. Then later in the day we went up to fountain paint pots and prismatic lake. Then had dinner at the Yellowstone Wilderness Lodge.
Day 5 - Untamed Nature
A nature hike through the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone National Park. Followed by a trip to Brooks Lake Lodge. Had an authentic cowboy dinner with an authentic cowboy folk singer to entertain us.
Day 6 - On The Range
A day of horseback riding, we had a morning and an afternoon session on the horses. We took horse trails up through the hills around Brooks Lake. We ended the day with a farewell dinner, for the next day we must return to reality.
